Dulux has announced its Colour of the Year 2024 as Sweet Embrace™, a delicate pale pink shade that brings a sense of comfort to your home.
The paint brand’s annual colour trend forecast is now in its 21st year and sees leading interior designers from across the world partner with Dulux to pinpoint a colour that represents the mood of the world.
The 2024 colour was chosen for its comforting hues and gentle soothing energy while also tapping into the pink colour trend which has been popular in the world of interiors for over a decade.
Marianne Shillingford, Creative Director and Colour Expert at Dulux, explains: “What is so wonderful about Sweet Embrace™ is its soothing quality. Like a whisper of reassurance in a moment of stress, it has a visual softness that calms the senses and creates an atmosphere of serenity.”
Alongside the feature colour, Dulux curated three palettes featuring Sweet Embrace™ to showcase how the colour can be used in different settings to create a truly personalised look.
The Calm Colour Story
Marianne adds: “While being a beautiful standalone colour, it’s a hue that perfectly combines with so many other shades making it a cheerleader in colour form. Sweet Embrace™ celebrates and optimises every shade around it so you can build a totally individual space in any room. It’s the perfect modern neutral that you can use with confidence, knowing it will unite each element from furnishings to artwork whilst creating a gently uplifting atmosphere.”
The Uplifting Colour Story
The result sees Sweet Embrace™ in three different yet complementing looks. A Warm Colour Story shows it paired with global earthy tones, A Calm Colour Story features beautiful woodland and seascape shades and An Uplifting Colour Story matches with modern lilacs and ochres.
The Warm Colour Story
Marianne explains how multifaceted Sweet Embrace™ is: “We’re all running non-stop these days, so it’s important that our homes provide us a raft in the storm, where we feel safe to take time out from facing our toughest challenges. A shade as subtle and versatile as Sweet Embrace™ encourages us to get quietly creative and fashion spaces that allow us to be our best, most authentic selves – and vitally, feel completely at home.”
This light pink shade pairs beautifully with our natural oak ranges, but also works well with our painted ranges to add a soft contrast. Head to the Oak Furnitureland website to discover all the different ranges, with styles to suit every home.
