What size are king size beds and mattresses?

King size bed frames and mattress sizes in the UK tend to be standardised:

King size bed frame sizes:

• Length: 210-215cm
• Width: 150-170cm
• Height: 95-135cm

King size bed mattress sizes:

• Length: 200cm
• Width: 150cm

What size bedroom do I need for a king sized bed?

A bedroom that can comfortably fit a king sized bed should ideally be at least 3.5m by 4m. This allows for adequate space to walk around the bed, and room for additional furniture without making it feel too cramped.

If you choose a bed with drawers underneath, make sure there’s enough space around it to pull them out and open them fully too.

In smaller rooms, the bed may fit, but it could limit your space for other furniture and easy movement around the room.

How much bigger is a king-sized bed than a double bed?

On average, a king size bed is 15 cm wider and 8 cm longer than a double bed.
